Andy Cohen reveals surprising news about 'RHONJ' casting after the show was temporarily halted

Update on “Real Housewives of New Jersey” Status

Andy Cohen recently provided an update regarding “Real Housewives of New Jersey,” announcing a significant reboot for the series that was first mentioned last summer.

“We’re casting in ‘Jerseys’,” Cohen stated during Tuesday’s episode of “The View.” He elaborated, saying it’s “really a deep hibernation, and we’re actively casting there and looking at the future of what it is.”

The producers reassured fans about the changes, emphasizing their commitment to the franchise. Cohen and Bravo have expressed their love for “RHONJ,” insisting it remains a strong franchise.

Cohen had previously indicated last July that Bravo intended to take a fresh approach to the “RHONJ” brand, especially after a season 14 finale and a unique reunion special.

Reports from August suggested that filming for the new season might be delayed until 2025.

The last season wrapped up with cast members including Teresa Giudice, Jennifer Aydin, Dolores Catania, Melissa Gorga, Margaret Joseph, Daniel Cabral, Rachel Huda, Jackie Goldschneider, and Jennifer Fessler.

Throughout the past few months, Cohen has been closely monitoring the casting developments.

In February, he confirmed on Sirius’s “Andy Cohen Live” that Melissa Gorga and Dolores Catania would return, accompanied by new personalities. He said, “If you say, ‘Bravo announced it,’ or ‘Andy said on his radio,’ that’s true,” urging fans not to trust any conflicting reports.

Meanwhile, there’s buzz about a new franchise, “Real Housewives of Rhode Island,” that might draw similar themes. Cohen mentioned, “They are very Italian,” noting that the state is small, which leads to overlapping social circles among the cast. He believes fans will find the group dynamic quite intriguing.

Cohen continued to draw parallels between the Rhode Island series and “New Jersey,” focusing on the family-oriented drama. He highlighted that while both feature Italian American casts, their differences lie mainly in their coastal settings. “It reminds me of the early ‘Jerseys’ in a strange way,” he admitted.
