Angel Gets Family Series After Creators Turn Down Request to Sexualize Teens

Angel Studios recently announced an exciting lineup of films and television series, some of which were initially connected to major streaming services. These platforms, however, reportedly pressured content creators to include more sexualized elements. During their annual illumination event last week, Angel’s leader shared plans for ten theatrical releases set for 2025 and 2026, along with 11 new streaming projects debuting on their platform.

The studio proudly celebrated reaching a milestone of 1 million paid guild members. As part of this, the leader expressed intentions to manage the Green Light Project.

“This is just the beginning,” Neil Harmon, from Angel, remarked.

Angel Studios is known for significant box office hits such as The Sound of Freedom, which ranked as the 10th highest-grossing film of 2023, and King of Kings, the highest-selling animated biblical film to date.

They plan to release four more films this year:

The Last Rodeo (May 23) — A retired rodeo champion confronts his past by returning to the arena to save his family.

Sketch (August 6) — This action-comedy follows a young girl whose eerie drawings come to life.

Truth and Treason (October 17) — A group of teens engages in underground resistance against the Nazi regime.

Zero Advertisement — This film centers on Mary fleeing King Herod to protect a young Jesus. Jordan Harmon from the studio described it as “the most ambitious film ever,” with Alejandro Monteverde directing.

Angel Studios has six box office films lined up for 2026, including A Case of a Stranger in January, Solomio in February, and Young Washington on July 4. They will also release Older Men in Sand Dunes, Fablehaven, and Fellowships, exploring themes related to CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien.

Solomio, featuring Kevin James, tells the story of a man who rises to the altar and sends his family to Italy. Jordan commented on the film’s electric atmosphere during screenings, noting the audience’s laughter and applause. He stated that it embodies the magic of classic romantic comedies from past decades.

The streaming platform will see nearly a dozen original offerings soon, including:

Driver Comedy specials with Rob Schneider and Patrick Warburton (June); Mercy Attacks the Ship (June); Miracle (July); I’m Apart for a Week series (August); Tuttle Twins Season 4 (October); Wing Feather Saga Season 3 (November); Homestead Season 1, Part 2 (December); Wayfinder (December); Riots and Dance Season 1, Part 2 (Summer); and Beyond the Medal Season 1 (2026).

Wayfinder follows three high school students mysteriously transported to a fantasy world where they must fight for survival.

“This series was originally intended for one of the three major streamers,” Jeff Harmon from Angel noted. He explained that although the streamers expressed interest after seeing the pilot episode, they ultimately wanted to alter key elements. The filmmakers politely declined, opting instead to carry on with Angel.

Jeff Harmon articulated how the studio’s growing 1 million guild members are reshaping the film industry by putting creative power back into the hands of everyday viewers.

“In Hollywood, the norm is to have numerous executives acting as gatekeepers. They make decisions for most major films, and this disconnection isn’t working anymore,” he reflected. “We’re replacing that system with the Angel Guild.”
