Angel Reese addresses WNBA investigation into supposed ‘hateful remarks’

WNBA Investigates Allegations of Hateful Comments

The WNBA is looking into claims that Angel Reese faced “hateful comments” during the game between the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever. This contest marked the 2025 season opener for both teams, sparking rivalries that began at the 2023 College National Championship.

During the match, Reese was subjected to a serious foul from Kaitlin Clark, prompting teammates and others to intervene and hold Reese back.

As for the specific details surrounding the alleged incident, those have yet to be disclosed. Sky head coach Tyler Marsh noted that he became aware of the situation at the same time as everyone else, while Reese expressed gratitude towards the league for addressing the matter.

“There’s simply no room for that in this league,” Reese remarked, referencing her team’s supportive environment. She acknowledged the love and backing she receives, despite the struggles she’s encountered, saying, “It’s obviously tough to hear. But I have a great support system.”

Reese also mentioned her journey over the past few years, reflecting on how she’s been able to navigate through challenges partially due to the strong network around her.

Clark voiced her appreciation for the league’s response as well, stating that everyone involved deserves to be treated with respect and have an enjoyable experience, whether they’re players or fans.

“We want to make sure our arenas are welcoming,” Clark emphasized. She praised the Fever organization for taking prompt action on the issue and expressed hope for thorough investigations.

Last season, Clark’s Fever had a winning record against the Sky, defeating them decisively 93-58 in their recent matchup. The rivalry continues, with more meetings scheduled, including upcoming games at the United Center in Chicago.
