Angel Reese has become the new queen of double-doubles and has earned herself some great recognition around the league.
The Chicago Sky forward was named WNBA Rookie of the Month after averaging 14.5 points, 13.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in 32 minutes played in 11 games in June.
Though the Sky lost 70-62 to the Lynx on Sunday, the 22-year-old Reese made WNBA history at Wintrust Arena.
She made a late free throw to record her 10th consecutive double-double, surpassing the previous record of nine straight games set by two-time MVP Candace Parker in 2015.
Reese had 10 points and 16 rebounds.
The former LSU star recorded his 11th consecutive double-double with 12 points and 19 rebounds in the Sky’s win over Atlanta on Tuesday.
Reese’s mother, Angel Webb Reese, watched from the stands as her daughter made the free throw to record her 10th consecutive double-double.
She joined the raucous Chicago crowd and double-high-fived the fan in front of her.
“She’s going to continue to be herself, always playing hard and confident and giving it everything she’s got,” Sky head coach Theresa Weatherspoon told reporters. According to ESPN:.
“She’s the hardest person on herself. She takes so much pride in what she does and what she continues to do.”

The guard led all 2024 rookies prior to Tuesday’s game in scoring (17.6 points per game), field goals made (46), 3-pointers made (24), free throws made (42), assists (6.6) and minutes played (33 minutes per game).
Both Reese and Clark are competing for the WNBA Rookie of the Year title, and they will be teammates on the WNBA All-Star team playing for Team USA in the lead-up to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The matchup will take place on July 20th at the Footprint Center in Phoenix.
