Angel Reese’s Potential Transition to Wrestling
Angel Reese, the often-controversial WNBA star, might have a future in professional wrestling. Recently, during the Dream’s 77-72 win over the Wings, she fully embraced a “heel” persona, engaging in a series of taunts after snagging an offensive rebound and motioning for fans to keep booing.
In addition to this, Reese, who scored 12 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, made several “too small” gestures aimed at her opponents throughout the game.
There’s been quite a bit of conversation lately about Reese’s status in the WNBA, especially compared to rising star Caitlin Clark from the 2024 draft class. At 24, Reese has faced criticism for her trash-talking, and she even mentioned that she plans to “play the villain” next season when reflecting on her relationship with Clark.
On the court, Reese seems uninterested in maintaining friendly relations. In fact, her actions on Tuesday may have stirred up some enemies. For example, during the second quarter—while her team trailed 23-19—Reese, who stands 6-foot-4, out-jumped 5-foot-8 Odyssey Sims to secure an offensive rebound and score. She then bent over to show a “too small” sign with her hand, definitely inviting ire from the crowd.
When the College Park Center crowd began booing, Reese didn’t shy away; instead, she spurred them on. Mockingly, she also seemed to poke fun at the Wings’ “too small” celebration after scoring from another offensive rebound in the third quarter, helping the Dream take a 47-43 lead.
While she may not be winning over fans elsewhere, Reese is reportedly forming connections with her new teammates in Atlanta, following her trade from the Sky during the offseason. She’s had double-doubles in her first two games—both victories!
Teammate Alisha Gray commented on Reese’s positive demeanor, saying, “No matter where we are in the game, she brings us together and reminds us of our success. She’s hard-working and genuinely a good person. Once you get to know her, she’s really a lot of fun. I’m having the best time of my life with Angel.”
