Things got weird when the Chicago Sky’s press conference was interrupted by outside conversations about “intimate relationships.”
Sky rookie Angel Reese, head coach Theresa Weatherspoon and guard Marina Mabry looked in disbelief when a reporter’s question about Reese’s WNBA-record 13th consecutive double-double was interrupted by inappropriate conversation.
“Will we ever be intimate?” a female voice asked from behind me.
“Sorry that last part got cut off,” Reese interjected.
“Well, that’s an awkward topic,” a male voice said, to which Reese replied, “Excuse me?”
At that point, another Sky staff member asked the reporter to repeat the question.
“I had no interest in being intimate with anyone,” the man said.
Rees, Weatherspoon, and Mabry jumped up from their chairs, looking startled at the intrusive topic.
Reese, 22, who was selected to the 2024 WNBA All-Star team, covered her mouth with her hands.
“They would say it was weird in that respect,” Mabry said, laughing.
“What’s going on?” the caller asked.
“Someone’s mic is on,” another said, as a “whoa” could be heard in the background.
The call was muted for a moment, before Reese added, “Yeah, they’re going to get fired.”
