Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky made it clear who the front-runner for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award is after the rookie recorded another double-double.
Reese finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds, extending her single-season double-double record by a WNBA rookie to 12. She also tied Candace Parker for the most consecutive double-doubles in two seasons.

The Sky defeated the Seattle Storm 88-84.
However, with the competition for this season’s best rookie awards being fierce, Sky wrote an article about X, making it clear who their pick was.
“A record setter. A front-runner,” the team wrote.
Reese also reposted the message on her timeline.
Reese’s teammate, Chennedy Carter, also named the rookie forward as the front-runner for the award.

“Barbie Rookie of the Year. There’s no other way to say it,” Carter said. New York Post“She does her job every night no matter what team she’s playing. She’s definitely the Barbie Rookie of the Year.”
Reese’s biggest rival for the award is Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, who also made history on Saturday by recording her first triple-double as a rookie.
Clark is averaging 16 points, 7.1 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game, while Reese is averaging 13.9 points, 11.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

Clark has the advantage in the head-to-head battle, having won two of the three meetings so far, and the two schools have one more meeting scheduled for Aug. 30.
