Angel Reese tries to tamp down 2028 Olympic expectations after Team USA’s latest gold

The Paris Summer Olympics have officially concluded, with the U.S. women’s basketball team winning their eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal.

Soon after, all eyes turned to the 2028 Olympics and who will be donning the red, white and blue in Los Angeles when that time comes. A post on the ESPN Women’s Hoops’ X account speculated on who might be on the roster, naming Kaitlyn Clark, Angel Reese, Paige Bueckers and JuJu Watkins.

But Chicago Sky star rookie Reese, who is due to return to action later this month, tried to turn the attention back to this year’s winners.

“Let’s celebrate women and enjoy this moment! Stay out of this until my time is right!” Reese replied to X.

U.S. Olympic track and field star Kendall Ellis says she was “blindsided” after being withdrawn four minutes into the 4x400m relay.

Reese and Clark will likely lead the next generation of women’s basketball players on the U.S. national team, and both are vying for Rookie of the Year honors as their teams fight for playoff spots in their inaugural WNBA seasons.

Bueckers is expected to be a high pick in next year’s draft as he finishes his playing career at Connecticut, while Watkins is in his second season at USC.

High expectations will be placed on Team USA going forward, and a ninth gold medal would be an incredible achievement.
