The Texas mother, who worked as a Doordash driver, was arrested Wednesday five months after she released a child inside the car. One of them was strangled to death while playing on the moonroof of a car, police said.
Authorities say Angela Moreno's 3-year-old son suffered a life-threatening injury when his parents ran to Belton restaurant around 9:30pm on October 10, 2024 to receive a 10-minute delivery order.
An unsupervised toddler in the car with his one-year-old brother climbed up and thrust his head out of the moonroof before accidentally closing and closing the window on his neck by pressing the button on the car's ceiling. Belton police said.
Staff at the local restaurant took measures to save lives on an unconscious child who was not breathing as their 24-year-old mother watched helplessly. The first responder then rushed him to McClain Children's Hospital, where he was treated and survived.
After investigators were awarded to the Bell County District Attorney's Office, Moreno was charged with child injuries and was taken into custody.
Belton is a car from Austin about an hour's drive.
