Angelina Jolie expresses concerns about America at a festival event.

Angelina Jolie took a political stance on Sunday at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain.

Before the debut of her film “Couture,” which tells the story of an American director named Maxine who is diagnosed with cancer, Jolie was asked during a press conference about her fears as both an artist and an American.

At 50, Jolie paused thoughtfully, finding the question quite challenging.

“I love my country, but at this point I don’t recognize my country,” she shared during the discussion.

“I’ve always lived internationally; my family is international, my friends, my life. I view the world as unified and global.”

She emphasized, “These are very serious times, and you have to be careful not to say things lightly. We are in intense times.”

The Oscar-winning actress previously expressed her wish to move abroad, away from Los Angeles.

“I love my country, but at this point I don’t recognize my country.”

Jolie explained that she grew up in LA but her continued presence there is solely due to her divorce, stating, “Once they turn 18, I’ll be able to leave.”

She expressed a desire for “privacy” for her family, which includes her children Pall, Zahara, and Shiro, saying, “For a large family, you want peace and security.”

“I have a home for my kids now, but sometimes I feel… the world I encountered isn’t what I experienced growing up here,” she reflected.

Recently, sources indicated Jolie is in the process of selling her LA home, possibly due to her strained living situation following her divorce from Brad Pitt.

“I didn’t want to live in LA full-time. I had to due to custody arrangements,” according to an insider.

Plans suggest she may be relocating soon after her child turns 18 next year, with her considering several overseas locations. “She’d be very happy to leave Los Angeles,” a source mentioned.

Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, and after a lengthy legal battle, they reached a settlement last December. Her lawyer stated, “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Pitt. She and her children moved on from the properties they shared, focusing on finding peace and healing.”

A source close to Jolie noted that she avoids discussing Pitt publicly, aiming to move forward from a difficult period.

“The children grew up feeling unheard due to power imbalances,” the insider added. “Their struggles are significant. Jolie encourages them to focus on advocating change.”
