Capital One Customers Face Changes to Beloved Perks
It’s time for customers of Capital One to bid farewell to some of the perks they’ve cherished. Many are understandably upset about what’s coming.
The Venture X card, introduced in 2021, was marketed as a premium travel option boasting impressive benefits.
Initially, cardholders accepted the hefty $395 annual fee, largely because of bonuses like complimentary airport lounge access. But that will soon change.
Starting February 1, 2026, as reported, the complimentary access for Venture X cardholders will be no more.
From then on, cardholders will have to shell out an additional $125 annually for each person wishing to utilize the lounge. This adds up— a family of four will fork out about $500 just to find a moment of peace before their flight.
To make matters worse, accessing Capital One lounges will come at a cost of $45 per guest, while Priority Pass access will set users back $35. So, there’s definitely a feeling that the perks are disappearing.
Interestingly, the only way to avoid these extra fees is to meet a threshold of $75,000 on their credit card. It feels a bit overwhelming for many.
The company did respond to these changes. A spokesperson mentioned, “As airport lounges gain popularity, we see increased wait times for entry.” This, they say, is part of the reasoning behind the adjustments.
Customers are expressing their frustration about these changes. “I’m extremely disappointed,” one said. “This isn’t just a minor adjustment; it fundamentally alters the value of the card.”
Another echoed similar sentiments, recommending that rather than shutting out families from these benefits, Capital One should enhance and expand their offerings to meet rising demand. There’s a sense of misalignment between spending thresholds and the needs of everyday travelers.
