Angry NY Knicks fans rip Victor Wembanyama's jersey apart while arrests take place

After a significant loss in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday, a large group of upset Knicks fans confronted Spurs fans in the streets, leading to the tearing off of Victor Wembanyama’s jersey. Nearly 20 fans were arrested following altercations with police outside a viewing party at Bryant Park.

Authorities responded quickly to the gathering at Bryant Park, where thousands had come to watch the Knicks game, arresting 21 individuals on various charges such as assaulting a police officer, possessing a weapon, and resisting arrest.

Five police officers sustained injuries during the chaos.

In total, eight fans were detained and charged, while 13 others were issued summons to appear in criminal court and released.

Footage circulating online captures the intense scene, with fervent Knicks fans shouting and tearing apart jerseys emblazoned with the name of the towering Spurs player.

A clip shared by a well-known YouTuber shows rioters ripping jerseys from unsuspecting Spurs supporters.

“Take it off! Take it off!” one voice was heard, urging onlookers as the jersey was violently shredded amid cheers.

Another scene showcased groups of fans forcibly removing jerseys from those unable to defend themselves against the mob.

Meanwhile, a planned viewing party outside Madison Square Garden was canceled due to safety concerns raised after a statement made by President Trump.

The Knicks, making their first Finals appearance since 1999, are set to play Game 4 at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m.
