Anna Wintour to step down from her position as head of editorial content

Anna Wintour Shifts Focus at Vogue

Anna Wintour has announced a change in her role at Vogue, signaling that the magazine is searching for someone to take on more of the daily operations. This comes as she continues to serve as editor-in-chief, a position she’s held since 1988.

At 75, Wintour also holds the title of Chief Content Officer for Condé Nast and serves as the global editorial director for Vogue. The new director of editorial content will report to her while she maintains her global responsibilities.

Wintour has played a significant role at Condé Nast, overseeing a variety of brands including Vanity Fair, GQ, and Glamour. Recently, she’s indicated that with the new head of editorial content, she hopes to spend more time contributing to different markets while overseeing all titles.

Besides her influential role at Vogue, she has been co-chair of the Met Gala since 1995, which is held annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday of May. Wintour is known to have the final say on the guest list and seating arrangements for this prestigious event.

Her career, characterized by her signature bob haircut and dark sunglasses, has seen Wintour rise through the ranks to become one of the leading figures in fashion journalism. She began as editor of British Vogue before taking over at the American edition and has previously worked for other notable publications.

Wintour’s influence has been profound; in 1989, she changed the landscape of fashion magazine covers, featuring Madonna on the cover of Vogue’s May issue, a first for a celebrity. Now, with a reported net worth of around $35 million, she holds a remarkable position in the media landscape.
