Anne Burrell’s Tragic Death
Anne Burrell may have suffered cardiac arrest prior to her untimely passing. A 911 caller reported that the Food Network star was in “cardiac arrest” and was subsequently found unresponsive. This information was shared by a New York City Fire Department official.
As of now, representatives for Burrell have not commented on the situation.
According to a spokesperson from the New York Police Department, she was discovered unconscious at her home in Brooklyn. The specific cause of death, occurring at the age of 55, has not yet been disclosed, and an investigation is ongoing.
Burrell’s family provided a heartfelt description of her, saying she was “a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend.” They added that “her smile brightened up every room she entered.”
“Anne’s light radiates far beyond anyone she knows, touching millions around the world,” her family continued in their statement. “Though she is no longer with us, her warmth and spirit remain eternal.”
A spokesperson from the Food Network referred to Burrell as “an incredible person and cooking talent,” expressing condolences to her family, friends, and fans during this difficult time.
Social media was flooded with tributes from fellow chefs. Many expressed their sorrow over Burrell’s death. One chef noted, “I am deeply saddened by the news of Anne Burrell’s passing. She was the vibrant spirit that lit up every room.” Another, Wells Adams, shared on social media his admiration for her impact during their time on “Worst Cook in America.”
Chef Michael Voltaggio remembered Burrell fondly, sharing a personal memory of her gift to him—a baby blanket she knitted after the birth of his daughter.
In her last Instagram post just a week ago, Burrell appeared healthy and joyful, smiling in a selfie with a friend.
She is survived by her husband, Stuart Claxton, whom she married in October 2021, and her son-in-law, Javier.
