“It was a really fun song for me to write,” she said. “There was a time in my career where I felt like I was too country for Christians. For example, my songs weren’t played on Christian radio because they were too country. But I still felt that way. The message was Christian, and to be honest, I was motivated to do it, thinking, “Do you understand?” I’m not trying to please Christian music. And I’m not trying to change myself to please country music, I’m just going to be who I am. ” So I was inspired to write a song about what it means to be a rebel. ”

Christians in the world today are, in a sense, rebels, she says.

“Believing in the world we live in today makes me feel like a bit of a rebel,” she told Crosswalk Headlines. “When we have faith, it’s like we become weirdos. But still the world can talk about all these scary subjects and it’s welcome and invited. But I When we talk about faith, it feels like somehow we’re wrong. And that just felt like an inspiration to say, “We’re going to write a faith-filled record.” …Being a follower of Jesus in the world we live in today makes you a rebel because Jesus was a rebel. So if you try to be like God, you will end up being a rebel. So all those different things became her one big idea and we wrote the song. ”
