Another Individual Taken Into Custody for Setting Fire to Property Owned by UK PM Starmer

LONDON – Second Arrest Made in Arson Case Against Prime Minister’s Property

Police have arrested a second suspect on Saturday linked to arson charges stemming from fires targeting properties associated with British Prime Minister Kielstarme. The 26-year-old was taken into custody at Luton Airport and is suspected of conspiring to commit arson, reportedly with the intent to endanger his life.

This arrest followed the appearance of a Ukrainian man in court the previous day, facing charges for setting fire to a personal residence of the Prime Minister, as well as the property where he previously resided and a vehicle he had sold. The nationality of the second suspect remains undisclosed.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported following a series of fires that occurred over three nights in north London from May 8 to May 12.

Roman Lavrynovych, the 21-year-old charged, did not submit a defense during his court appearance at Westminster Magistrate’s Court, where he faced three counts of arson intended to risk life.

According to prosecutors, Lavrynovych has denied the allegations, and there’s currently no clarifying explanation offered for the crimes.

Since being elected in July, the Prime Minister and his family have moved into the official residence at Downing Street. Notably, a Toyota RAV4 owned by the Prime Minister was the first vehicle to catch fire on May 8, just a short distance from his residence. The following days saw an apartment building with a former tenant linked to politicians set ablaze, and on the next day, the entrance to the Prime Minister’s home was also ignited.

The investigation is being led by counterterrorism detectives due to the involvement of the Prime Minister. The counterterrorism unit of the Crown Prosecutor’s Office is overseeing the charges, focusing on crimes that pose national threats.

This week, community leaders and residents have openly condemned the arson incidents, with one leader describing them as “an attack on all of us, democracy, and the values we uphold.”
