Rescue Operation for Downed F-15E Pilot
Over the Easter weekend, a second crew member of a U.S. military F-15E fighter jet, which had been shot down in Iran, was reportedly rescued.
President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that this airman was successfully brought out from Iran, with rescue teams being unharmed. He described the situation as perilous, noting the airman sustained injuries.
“We captured him! My fellow Americans, the U.S. military has successfully conducted one of the most daring search and rescue operations in American history for one of our great crew officers—a highly respected colonel. I’m thrilled to say he is safe and sound!” the president shared.
The officer was injured but reportedly stated that he would recover. In a later post, he mentioned being “seriously injured” and was expected to fly to Kuwait for treatment.
“We rescued a seriously injured and truly brave F-15 crew officer from deep within Iran’s mountains. Iranian troops were closely observing and approaching. He is a highly respected colonel,” Trump conveyed.
The president emphasized that the serviceman was “never alone,” as their location was being monitored throughout the operation’s planning. He highlighted that the mission involved numerous aircraft equipped with advanced weaponry and took place in daylight, a rare occurrence.
Trump also confirmed the previous rescue of another pilot from the same downed jet, explaining that he had withheld this information to ensure the second rescue was not jeopardized.
“This marks the first time in military history that two U.S. pilots have been rescued separately deep in enemy territory. We will never leave American combatants behind!” he reinforced.
Highlighting America’s air superiority, Trump claimed the operation was executed without any casualties. Several media sources have since confirmed the rescue of the second crew member.
A high-ranking official from the Trump administration mentioned that the CIA played a crucial role in the rescue mission, orchestrating a deception operation within Iran to mislead enemy forces while the Americans were located in a mountain crevice.
According to reports, elite Navy SEAL Team 6 was involved in rescuing the officer, with support from hundreds of special operations personnel working deep within enemy lines. The president announced plans for a press conference with military officials in the Oval Office on Monday afternoon.
