Anthony Anderson responds to controversial remark about teen Lindsay Lohan

Anthony Anderson Reflects on 2003 Interview with Lindsay Lohan

More than two decades ago, Anthony Anderson had a lighthearted moment with Lindsay Lohan during an interview on the Sharon Osbourne Show when she was just 17. In a resurfaced clip from that interview, Anderson humorously remarked on his preference for younger women, which has now prompted some reflection on the humor’s context.

According to a spokesperson for Anderson, the interview was intended to be comedic, and he expresses regret if the humor came off poorly. He holds great respect for Lohan, emphasizing that the misunderstood comments were not meant to be serious.

“The opposite meaning is inaccurate and potentially defamatory,” was part of the spokesperson’s statement as they addressed the renewed scrutiny of the clip.

In the original interview, Anderson chatted with Lohan about her family dynamics, mentioning that she had recently moved in with fellow Disney Channel star Raven-Symoné. He complimented both Lohan and Raven, saying, “You’re both beautiful women. You’re both young and have your own style.” Then, with a playful tone, he asked Lohan about her romantic life, to which Lohan clarified she was single, leading Anderson to joke, “She’s single, but I’m watching!”

Lohan quickly asserted, “I’m illegal for people who are older,” hinting at her disinterest in dating older men. Anderson humorously countered by implying that he might fit into that category, although he refrained from naming anyone specifically.

The playful banter took a turn when Anderson referenced Lohan’s film “Freaky Friday,” which coincidentally was released on DVD the same day as their interview. He even performed a scene from the film, further blending their conversation with promotional moments.

As they wrapped up, Anderson jokingly said, “We’re trying to get a freak right now,” which led to Lohan covering her mouth, adding an element of lighthearted surprise to the moment. The interview gains significance again as Lohan prepares for the upcoming premiere of “Freakier Friday,” slated for August 8th. It’s clear that nostalgia for the past, both good and awkward, continues to shape their public personas.
