Anthony Davis likely out for the remainder of the regular season

Anthony Davis’ Season with the Wizards Affected by Injuries

It seems Anthony Davis’ time with the Wizards in 2026 may be cut short even before it really kicks off. Reports indicate that Washington’s new addition is likely to miss the rest of the regular season, as he continues to recover from issues with his hand and groin, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Davis was traded from the Lakers to the Mavericks for Luka Doncic in a surprising deal last year. Just recently, he was traded again, this time from Dallas to Washington in a complex swap involving seven players and five draft picks.

At 32, Davis is averaging 20.4 points and 11.1 rebounds this season, but he’s played only 20 games and hasn’t taken the court since January 8 due to a hand injury. In a recent interview, Davis expressed his satisfaction with his new team. “This visit was great,” he mentioned. “They definitely welcomed me with open arms.” Despite his usual biases—he acknowledges that the team isn’t at its best yet—he remarked on the quality of the arena and the supportive atmosphere around the team.

Currently, the Wizards are struggling at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a record of 14-36. They did, however, make headlines earlier this season by acquiring Trae Young in a trade with the Hawks, though, similar to Davis, Young has yet to appear in a game for Washington.

Looking ahead, next season could be telling for the Wizards. Davis is under contract for at least another year, and Young has a player option for the 2026-27 season.

Even if things remain uncertain about the team’s future, Young recently reached out to welcome Davis back by sharing an old photo of them together, exclaiming, “Inevitable!” Fans are now left to wonder if these two will ever hit the court together for the Wizards.
