The Minnesota Timberwolves’ star guard, Anthony Edwards, recently tied the knot, but not in the way many expected. He and his long-time partner, Shannon Jackson, got married on July 16, as revealed by Minnesota marriage records.
This news follows a curious moment when Edwards was seen wearing a wedding ring during the Fanatics Fest in New York City on July 17, which sparked speculation on social media. Now, knowing he had just gotten married the day before, it makes a bit more sense.
Another layer to the story is that Edwards is currently dealing with a complicated paternity issue. In court documents from April, he accused Aisha Howard of attempting to publicly shame him into settling child support for their daughter, Aubri.
Howard welcomed Aubri in October 2024, which was around seven months after Jackson had given birth to Edwards’ daughter, Aislinn. Additionally, Edwards has two other children from different relationships, one born in September 2023 and another in October of the same year.
Reports suggest that Edwards previously urged Howard to consider an abortion when she informed him about her pregnancy, indicating that he might have been trying to navigate a rather murky situation while planning his future with Jackson, who was apparently supportive throughout Howard’s pregnancy.
Regardless, it seems that Edwards and Jackson are in a good place now, having recently gotten married. Although Edwards hasn’t commented on the wedding publicly, it’s worth noting that Jackson doesn’t have a public social media profile to share any details either.
The Timberwolves, alongside the NBA, are currently watching to see where LeBron James might land in free agency, and speculation has Minnesota under consideration as well.
If James happens to choose Minneapolis, it’s a fun thought that by this time next year, Edwards might not be the only one wearing a wedding ring.
