Rand Paul Shares Fauci’s Diary Entries
Recently, Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) unveiled a collection of diary emails from Anthony Fauci, the key figure behind the U.S. coronavirus response. One of these entries addressed the claims made in a book he co-wrote with Steve Deace.
Fauci criticized the book and its authors, particularly targeting Deace. Interestingly, he acknowledged that he didn’t actually read it, stating there was no evidence behind his criticism.
“Notice that he never disputes anything we write. There are more footnotes than pages in this best-selling book, all of which prove to be true,” Deace commented on social media.
In his diary entry, Fauci mentioned, “Two authors, Steve Deace and Todd Azen, wrote a book about me titled ‘Faucian Bargain – The Most Powerful and Dangerous Bureaucrat in American History.’ This is a 179-page cheap paperback that I won’t even read, but it contains the same kind of nonsense that other conspiracy theorists are saying about me.”
Fauci went on to express concern about the increasing number of people subscribing to conspiracy theories, referencing books by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and other right-wing commentators.
The release of these diary entries has brought attention back to Deace, who passionately responded online, calling Fauci’s remarks “the biggest compliment of my entire career.” He noted the lack of dispute from Fauci, emphasizing that the claims in their book are well-supported.
Deace continued, expressing pride in the attention from Fauci. “Without a doubt, this is the greatest honor of my career,” he reiterated.
The book, published in 2021, argues that Fauci has turned into “the most powerful and dangerous bureaucrat in American history,” providing evidence that the authors believe backs this assertion.
