It’s hard to believe that six years have passed. Do we really remember the chaotic times of summer 2020? The memories still linger, whether we like it or not.
That summer was filled with unease and frustration.
Empty NASCAR stands and “Tiger King” dominating screens, with daily death tallies broadcast everywhere, not to mention the protests. It was a strange time.
Some media outlets have overlooked the significant claims against Fauci regarding misleading Congress about COVID-19’s origins.
That summer stands out as perhaps the worst in many respects. While we’ve moved on from a lot of it, some images remain vividly etched in our minds.
Looking back at that infamous first pitch thrown by a masked Fauci brings a smile — it’s almost comical now, in a way.
6 years ago, everything felt off
Honestly, it still makes me chuckle. It was a time that felt so absurd. The Yankees and Nationals started their MLB season in empty stadiums, with cardboard cutouts filling seats and artificial crowd sounds adding to the oddity.
There was a time when they had to express support for BLM before Fauci’s ill-fated pitch, all while we were still navigating through what felt like an elaborate deception.
It truly was a ridiculous period. It’s almost surreal to think how our children might one day read about this in history books and find it laughable.
We’ll have to grin and bear it, looking back at ourselves alongside them.
Despite everything, at least Fauci didn’t throw the absolute worst first pitch — that title still belongs to him during what was just an odd era.
Maybe we should have realized he didn’t know much when he threw the ball just a few feet ahead of him?
Or when he casually appeared in the stands without a mask?
What a time to be alive.
