Anthony Hopkins Discusses Infidelity in New Memoir

Anthony Hopkins has opened up about being unfaithful to his former wife, Jennifer Linton, during their marriage. This revelation comes from his latest memoir, titled “We Did OK, Kid,” which was released this past Tuesday.

The acclaimed actor reflects on his personal relationships and the repercussions of his actions in the book, as reported by various outlets. He noted, “She turned a blind eye to everything I was doing. She didn’t find out about my affair until several years later. I don’t know if she has taken a boyfriend either. I would rather she did. I don’t blame her for that.”

Hopkins expressed deep regret over how he treated Linton, wishing for her happiness despite his past behavior. “It would be some comfort to know that she found some happiness in those years without me,” he shared. “I was really sad because she deserved better than me. She made a difference in my life, and I ruined it, and I’m responsible for that.”

At 87, Hopkins has been married three times. He first tied the knot with Petronella Barker, then with Linton, and currently with Stella Arroyave since 2003. He emphasized the significance of his time with Linton, mentioning that they were together for about 20 years after meeting in 1969.

Reflecting on their relationship, he wrote, “She grabbed the tiger by the tail,” acknowledging the difficulties he had caused in her life.

After their separation, Hopkins described himself as being in turmoil, facing both professional and personal setbacks. He recalled feeling like he was “running away from a messy movie deal, a broken relationship with a woman, a lack of trust, and a neurotic obsession with isolation.” Additionally, his memoir touches on his struggles with alcoholism, his journey to sobriety, and a long-standing estrangement from his daughter, Abigail.
