Anthony Hopkins offers straightforward life insights at 87: 'Never saw myself as a victim'

Anthony Hopkins Shares Insights on Victimhood and Isolation

Anthony Hopkins, at 87, has a straightforward approach to life. In a recent appearance on Dax Shepard’s podcast, “Armchair Expert,” he discussed how he has never viewed himself as a victim. “I never felt like a victim, and I still don’t,” he stated, encouraging others to stop complaining about their circumstances.

Hopkins is currently promoting his memoir, “We Did OK, Kid.” During the conversation, he mentioned his preference for solitude throughout much of his life, noting that he doesn’t feel lonely. “No, I didn’t feel alone. I just felt special. I didn’t need anyone,” he shared.

Shepard brought up Hopkins’ diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome from 2014. In response, Hopkins reflected, “I don’t know what she believes, because for me it’s a label.” This comment underscores his perspective on mental health labels, which he considers somewhat nonsensical.

The actor emphasized the human experience, saying, “That’s what it means to be human.” His candidness resonates. “I just feel like everyone else. I’m confused, like we all are,” he said, acknowledging the complexities of life. Despite this, he remains steadfast in his belief that he has never been a victim.

Hopkins’ outlook is both refreshing and real. It’s a reminder that perceptions of self and challenges can vary greatly.
