Anthony Hopkins to Release Personal Music Collection

Iconic actor Sir Anthony Hopkins is stepping into the musical realm with a new deal to launch a collection of deeply personal musical works. He has partnered with classical music label Decca Classics to release a project titled “Life Is a Dream,” set for August. The composition, performed by Gustavo Dudamel and the Philharmonia Orchestra, showcases Hopkins’ unique style.

According to Decca, the album features pieces from various stages of Hopkins’ life, reflecting the emotional depth and storytelling he is known for in films.

Widely recognized for his roles as Hannibal Lecter in “The Silence of the Lambs,” Butler Stevens in “The Remains of the Day,” and appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hopkins has had a lifelong passion for music. He started playing piano at four years old and quickly tackled pieces by Beethoven and Chopin.

Hopkins expressed, “Music was my first desire and my first wish,” revealing that he has been composing music for decades. “Some of these songs have been with me for a long time, and I still return to them.” His fans will get a preview of his work with the first track, “Bracken Road,” derived from his “1947: Suite for Solo Piano and Orchestra,” inspired by childhood memories from Margam in South Wales.

Collaborating on the project are pianist Sergio Tiempo, cellist Gregorio Nieto, the Bach Choir, and the Winchester Cathedral Boys’ Choir, adding their talents to Hopkins’ vision.

“My whole life is a dream,” he noted, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work with Decca. “It’s a true honor to collaborate with the esteemed Philharmonia Orchestra and soloists like Gregorio Nieto and Sergio Tiempo.” He further praised Maestro Gustavo Dudamel for his profound impact on the project’s musical journey, highlighting how his artistry brought each note to life, creating a unique experience for listeners.
