Anthony Kim to make pro golf comeback at LIV Golf Jeddah, but there’s a catch

Anthony Kim will be teeing off at a professional golf event for the first time in more than a decade.

He will do so at LIV Golf Jeddah. will be held next week at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club in Saudi Arabia, according to Golf Channel’s Rex Hoggard. multiple sources On X containing @FlushingItGolf.

However, Kim will not be joining any of LIV Golf’s 13 teams in next week’s tournament, instead playing as a “wild card.”

When rumors surfaced that Kim might return to golf, speculation swirled as to which side of the division he would land on.

This will be his first professional start since 2012, which was marred by injuries, missed cuts and withdrawals. Of the 10 races he started that year, Kim finished only two, his best result being a tie for 42nd place at the Honda Classic.

After the Wells Fargo Championship in May 2012, Kim underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon and has not returned to professional golf since.

Kim, who played three seasons collegiately at the University of Oklahoma, has three career wins on the PGA Tour.

The first was at Quail Hollow in 2008, where he won the then-Wachovia Championship by five strokes over Ben Curtis. Kim was only 23 years old at the time.

His other wins include the 2008 AT&T National at Congressional and the 2010 Shell Houston Open, where he faced Vaughn Taylor in a playoff.

When it comes to majors, Kim has three top-10 finishes, her best finish being a solo third place at Augusta National in 2010, where Phil Mickelson won his third Masters.

Now, Kim is scheduled to join Mickelson in Saudi Arabia this week, and the curious golf world will be watching to see how the former top-10 player fares in Mickelson’s return.
