AI’s Rapid Growth Outpaces Traditional Giants
So, you’re interested in AI? Well, it’s certainly making waves lately. As the artificial intelligence industry flourishes, companies like Anthropic and OpenAI are raking in more revenue than some of the most recognizable names in fast food and coffee.
For instance, Anthropic, known for its Claude AI, is projected to pull in around $71 billion next year. OpenAI isn’t far behind, with an expected revenue of about $49 billion. In comparison, Starbucks is estimated to generate $37.2 billion, while McDonald’s is set to earn around $29.6 billion from its famous menu.
In fact, the combined expected revenue of Anthropic and OpenAI is set to rival the totals from McDonald’s, Starbucks, Taco Bell, and Yum Brands, which owns KFC. This reveals the sheer scale of AI investments sweeping through corporate America, as businesses allocate hundreds of billions to modernize and integrate AI into their operations.
Founded only five years ago, Anthropic has managed to raise over $100 billion and was valued at an impressive $965 billion in May 2026. Its partnerships with major cloud providers like Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud are expanding, along with acquiring significant clients in finance, healthcare, and technology.
Meanwhile, OpenAI has also broadened its ChatGPT Enterprise program, partnering with various firms looking for productivity solutions powered by AI.
It’s interesting to note that while McDonald’s and Starbucks have been around for decades, boasting over 80,000 locations worldwide, the pace at which companies are adopting generative AI is astonishing. It’s like a race, and AI is definitely leading the way.
