When thieves flee in Darcey Bell's rented U-Haul truck, a San Francisco woman calls on X for help. “If you see a 26-foot U-Haul truck with Arizona plates AL50003, could you please let me know? All my belongings are in there.”
The post went viral, but not for the reasons she expected. Bell posted left-wing “defund the police” opinions for years, and users across the site criticized and ridiculed him.
“Bay State of Mind,” an X account that comments on politics in the San Francisco Bay Area, jeered, “Anti-police activists are asking the police for help.”
Tom Wolfe, an addiction recovery activist with about 30,000 followers, posted screenshots of previous posts in which Bell lashed out at San Francisco police, as well as screenshots of recent complaints.
“Shot. Chaser.” the caption reads.
In “X,” Bell, who is known as Jerk Cousteau and has a history of “responding to every malicious argument with a humane attack,” fights back.
Just hours after filing a police report, she accused police of not finding her stolen belongings sooner.
“I can’t find my stuff!” The police didn’t do that! I had to file a police report because of U-Haul! ” she told the Post.
“There are cameras everywhere in this city. They're not doing anything! …I just want my stuff back!”
To those who accuse her of hypocrisy, she claims she has “literally never called the police” and posts more calls to defund the police just in case. .
U-Haul itself urged her to alert authorities about the truck's theft.
“Please be sure to call us back so we can file a police report with our Equipment Recovery Department,” the company's customer support account says.
As for her critics, she sneered.
“Look at all the good Christian ‘victim advocates’ who celebrate the loss of my children’s possessions on Christmas,” she fired at haters in general.
