One month after the NYPD raid, anti-Israel protesters have again set up an encampment at Columbia University.
This is the third time an encampment has been set up on Columbia’s campus. The first was set up at the university on April 17, and the following day several students were suspended and hundreds of protesters were arrested.
After the first encampment, another emerged and remained there until April 30, when NYPD officers swooped on the campus after protesters stormed and occupied academic buildings.

Signs reading “We’re back, bitches,” “All eyes on Rafa” and “No donations until divestment” were seen hanging from white tents in the encampment.

The third camp at Columbia comes as the university prepares to host its alumni weekend.

The first campsite established at Columbia University inspired campsites to be established on college campuses across the country, including George Washington University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Chicago. University of North CarolinaSuch.
Protesters who took part in various camps and protests on university campuses voiced a wide range of demands, including calling for universities to divest from Israeli companies, ending academic ties with Israeli educational institutions, and calling for a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas.
