Anti-Israel Protesters Firebombed Building at U.C. Berkeley

Pro-Palestinian protesters have reportedly set fire to “the side of a building” on the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) campus, claiming that students on another campus were “attacked.”

in post On Thursday, the US Palestinian Action Group posted on Instagram: post from an anonymous user who claimed to have set fire to the side of Coshland Hall. building At UCB, there is a “Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Biology.”

The post included a screenshot of a notice written by the author on the website of the San Francisco Bay Area Center for Independent Media titled “Student Intifada.” In the post, the author wrote that students at the University of California, Los Angeles had been “attacked” and that anti-Israel protesters had “retaliated” by detonating Molotov cocktails on the side of Koshland Hall.

“We don’t even know what building it was,” the group added. “Honestly, we don’t care. Every building on the UC Berkeley campus should be burned down given how the UC system has treated student protesters. Last night they attacked a young female student who was expressing her opinion through a megaphone, so we dropped a Molotov cocktail on the side of a campus building. The flames were large and spread to the trees and bushes on the side of the building.”

Officers with the University of California Police Department (UCPD) have launched an investigation into suspected arson on the UCB campus. Chron 4 News.

“Long live the student movement for Palestine’s liberation,” the post continued. “Stop the genocide now. The University of California system must withdraw from Israel or face the wrath of our vengeance. Blessed be the fire.”

of Jerusalem Post I got it. A post by a “Student Intifada” poster said a “student with a megaphone” had been attacked, but Students for Justice in Palestine at UCLA (SJP UCLA) reportedly confirmed that she was “later released.”

According to SJP UCLA, the statement referred to a UCLA student from Students for Justice in Palestine carrying a megaphone that was seized by police but later released.

Both SJP UCLA and UCPD reportedly said that “anti-Israel activists attempted to re-establish an anti-Israel camp at UCLA.”

“They tried to protest twice, but each time police restricted public movement and dispersed them for disrupting nearby exams, eventually resulting in clashes between police and protesters,” the outlet reported. “UCLA Vice Chancellor for Campus Safety Rick Braziel said in a statement Tuesday that the encampments had caused some students to miss final exams and forced others to be removed mid-exam.”

The outlet added that UCLA Vice Chancellor for Campus Safety Rick Brasiel said that “at least six UCPD officers and other safety personnel were injured” as a result of attacks by protesters.

“One of our security guards was struck by an object and was bleeding from the head,” Braziel said in a statement. “Simply put, these non-peaceful protests are abhorrent and cannot continue.”

Brasiel added in a statement that 27 people had been arrested.

This came after anti-Israel protesters at UCB occupied a building on May 15, hours after university authorities and protesters reached an agreement to end the weeks-long encampment. The protesters involved in the occupation of the building were reportedly not among the group that reached the agreement with university authorities.

On May 16, 12 anti-Israel protesters were arrested after a new camp was established.

Breitbart News reached out to UC Berkeley for a statement but had not received a response at press time.
