NBC and MSNBC correspondent Antonia Hilton said Sunday that the anti-Israel protests at Columbia University were so violent that the campus rabbi told Jewish students to leave for their own safety, but were actually “peaceful.” He claimed that it was something.
Our team spent extensive time reporting in and around Columbia University’s campus on Thursday and Friday. I would like to sort out a few things. At no time did we see any instances of violence or attacks taking place on the lawns or student encampments. The student-led protests were peaceful and often very quiet…

The protests included illegal camps that were cleared by the New York City Police Department (NYPD), but then returned in defiance of university authorities and the law. Critics say the demonstrations included members of anti-Israel groups that disrupted classes and harassed Jewish students, and have been suspended by the university. Some protests on or near campus have clearly included pro-terrorism chants and anti-Semitic rhetoric.
The intimidation was so severe that an Orthodox rabbi serving the campus community advised Jewish students to go home rather than return to campus this weekend until security significantly improved.
Hylton said the violent clashes and extremist rhetoric occurred only outside the campus gates, between people who were prohibited from entering and people who were not actually students at Columbia or Barnard. he claimed.
The only moment of conflict or attack that I witnessed occurred on Broadway Avenue, beyond the gate. Many times I approached people in that crowd. Everyone I approached said they were not students at Columbia or Barnard College. No one had a badge to earn on campus.

Hylton doesn’t seem to take into account the fact that Columbia students, especially graduate students, spend some of their time off campus, and that Broadway is a thoroughfare that cannot be easily ignored by students on campus. was.
