Anti-Israel vandals target Congressman Gregory Meeks’ Queens home

Anti-Israel vandals targeted the Queens home of Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-New York) on Sunday, writing that the congressman had “blood” on his hands, law enforcement sources said.

Sources said Meeks, 70, returned home at about 4.45pm and found graffiti reading “Liberate Palestine”, “Lobster” and “You have blood on your hands” on his home in the St Albans area of the borough.

Authorities said condemnations and pro-Palestinian phrases were written in sidewalk chalk and on posters.

Photos from the scene showed writings including “war criminal” written on a long driveway and on a retaining wall beneath a tree, and investigators were seen carrying two large paper bags from the home.

The New York Police Department confirmed it was investigating criminal activity during the congressman’s speech.

A source close to Meeks told The Post on Sunday night that the congressman or a family member had already washed the graffiti off.

“Some people painted graffiti on their houses and left,” the source said.

The vandalism came just days after it was revealed that Meeks, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, had helped approve an $18 billion arms sale to Israel, including about 50 fighter jets. The Washington Post reported.

Meeks told the paper that the F-15s would be delivered “in the next few years.”

According to the media, the sale, which was pushed through by the Biden administration, also includes air-to-air missiles and Integrated Direct Attack Weapon kits to convert unguided bombs into precision-guided ones.

Meeks had been hesitant to support the sale because of questions about how the weapons would be used. Politico reported.

“I don’t want to see more deaths from the kind of weapons that Israel is using,” he was quoted as saying on CNN earlier this year. “I want to make sure that humanitarian aid gets there. I don’t want people to starve, I want Hamas to release the hostages. And I want a two-state solution.”

Meeks did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
