The number of anti-Semitic crimes tallied last year was a 7% increase compared to 2023, when 323 similar crimes were reported to the NYPD, according to the data.
Police statistics show the overall number of reported hate crimes has fallen by 4%, with a tally of 641 incidents last year compared to 671 in 2023.
According to the data, Muslims were targeted in 43 crimes reported in 2024, an increase of 65% from the previous year.
Lederer placed the blame on President Biden, arguing that he is not doing enough to “crack down” on anti-Semitism.
“A big factor is the Biden administration's unwillingness to do anything to crack down on this hate,” Lederer said.
“There are students with foreign visas who support terrorism on campus. They should have been deported,” he added.
“There are foreign countries trying to influence our culture, and the presidential administration should have done something about it.”
Bronx Rep. Richie Torres (D-N.Y.), a possible candidate for governor, said the Empire State is not doing enough to “protect” Jewish New Yorkers. .
