NBA Great and champion Antoine Walker sparked debate by appearing to point out hypocrisy in the WNBA.
Walker won the NBA title with the Miami Heat in 2006, and was a fan favorite for his three-point shooting and charisma.
Working on his X account, Walker raised a simple question that the WNBA and its supporters likely aren’t ready to answer.
“Can someone explain why there are no former NBA players to cover the WNBA? But are there former female basketball players to cover the NBA?” Walker asked.
It is unclear whether Walker specifically mentions the announcer, but the assumed premise behind his question is that the NBA is expected to incorporate female players into the mix for commentary and analysis, but it is not expected that the women’s league will incorporate male former players.
In the most popular reply to Walker, fans agreed I said The original star expects to be attacked to “suggest a real question.”
“Are you having any questions?” Walker replied.
“A great question, but you’ll never get[n] An honest answer to that, “One YouTuber It rang.
Other fans have denounced the culture around the WNBA, phone Unless male analysts have been revised most politically, it is a “disaster waiting to happen.” [and] Soft commentator for all time. ”
Podcaster Drel Baldwin tried to provide dull integrity I said“Talking about the WNBA when you play in the NBA is a step back. When you play in the WNBA, talking about the NBA is a step up.”
Meanwhile, one reader asked if the former NBA star was “sufficient” to take on such a role, saying he was “probably too scared of what other men will think.”
At least four former WNBA players, including Lisa Leslie, Chiney Ogwumike, Rebekkah Brunson and Candace Parker, are easily recognised for their roles as NBA commentators and analysts.
Stephen Bardo appears to be the only former NBA player with a similar role in the WNBA. He is a color analyst at Chicago Sky. However, Bardo is relatively unknown to the NBA, playing just 33 games in three seasons, most of which (23) were campaigns in 1993.
