Antonio Pierce rant sparks Davante Adams trade speculation

It's amazing how much can change in a week.

The Raiders followed up a feel-good win over the Ravens with an embarrassing loss to the Panthers, a team that coach Antonio Pierce had promised to revamp.

The first-year head coach criticized some of his players for a dismal 36-22 loss to the previously winless Panthers.

“No, that's not true. [show up]”After being asked by a reporter if the team was there, Pierce responded:

“As the match progressed, we had some guys that made business decisions and we're going to continue to make business decisions going forward as well.”

The Raiders defense selected Andy Dalton, who was named the starter this week after two awful performances from Bryce Young, as their third-best passer in Week 3 QBR (86.9).

It's unclear which players Pierce was referring to, but star receiver Davante Adams' body language, which was met with disgust at halftime, certainly left something to be desired.

“I think it's hard for me to pinpoint what it is. I'm not sure,” Adams said when asked about Pierce's comments. According to ESPN.

Adams sat on the bench while his teammates filed into the locker room after a 21-7 loss and searched for answers for their awful performance.

If Adams' contract is released, Las Vegas could be relieved of a $44.1 million cap hit in 2025, the highest of any non-quarterback, so it's unlikely he'll remain with the team next year.

Adams will have plenty of suitors for the Raiders to choose from, and he would certainly be worth a draft pick in a trade.

The Jets also could consider the Chiefs and Saints as possible trade partners given their longstanding relationship with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Adams slammed the team's former quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the Netflix documentary “Receiver,” implying he was involved in the decision to bench the veteran quarterback last season.

Gardner Minshew was Las Vegas' starter this year, and Adams had 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown during the team's 1-2 start.

Adams only finished fourth in receivers Sunday despite receiving a team-high nine targets from Minshew.

The NFL trade deadline is November 5th.
