Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Dn.Y., told attendees at Rally to not let Republicans “trick” them to think “the deep divisions along with race, identity and culture” as “rid.”
Comments from the progressive “squad” lawmaker came at a “combat oligarchy” rally in Idaho along with Sen. Bernie Sanders of I-VT. It was the latest stop on tours that featured around the country.
“The only chance they have to escape on such an unpopular, hurtful agenda is to blow out deep divisions along race, identity and culture, and keep us fighting and distracted. “Don’t let them fool us into thinking we are enemies. Don’t fool us into thinking they can weaken us and separate us into rural and urban, black and white, Latino.”
The AOC’s meeting with Sanders centered around criticizing “billionaire” oligarchs like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and President Donald Trump.
In fact, identity politics was “held in the heart” of former Vice President Kamala Harris’ defeat to Trump in the election, according to Eddie Glaude, a political analyst and regular MSNBC contributor.
“The only thing that has awakened or expressed [Kamala Harris’] The campaign was the fact that she, her body, the fact that she was a woman of color. So, in an interview with NPR right after Republicans’ election victory in November, I think Glaude, in an interview with NPR, that concerns about dealing with diversity in the country, the so-called backlash, actually proves the point.
Meanwhile, since taking office, Trump has been implementing executive action, which explicitly targets “identity politics.”
“Before the harmful changes introduced by the Obama and Biden administrations, the US military provided equal opportunity for all Americans with the ability to serve their country and interested. However, these two administrations have exploited the military in favour of our defense, silenced defense, undermined the apolitical nature of our military, and joled to rased recruit and swort fin she by shing. The service has recorded the lowest recruitment record since 1940, with a shortage of 41,000 rooms in 2023.”
Trump has also taken steps to expel Day from the university, the federal government and even the private sector.
According to Trump, it was Democrat President Joe Biden who implemented the “illegal and immoral discrimination program,” who often linked individual success to unchanging factors such as race, gender and ethnicity.
“President Trump is restoring federal employment equity and accountability and ending DEI across the federal government,” reads the White House’s March fact sheet.
