Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) blamed Israel for the pager attack that killed 12 people and injured nearly 3,000 in Lebanon on Tuesday, most of whom were senior or affiliated with Hezbollah.
In a post on Twitter, AOC placed the blame for the attack on Israel (which has not officially claimed responsibility), saying it killed and injured civilians. She made no mention of the fact that Hezbollah or terrorists were targeted.
Breitbart News reported that the pagers were likely owned by Hezbollah officials. There were also reports that a young girl was killed when a pager exploded on the floor of her home, but the vast majority of the victims appear to have been Hezbollah members and government officials with close ties to Hezbollah, including the injured Iranian ambassador. A second wave of attacks targeting the walkie-talkies hit Lebanon on Wednesday.
According to the Israeli government, Hezbollah has fired more than 8,000 rockets since it began indiscriminate attacks on Israel in October, killing 46 people, wounding 294 and starting 838 fires in northern Israel.
