Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez explicitly endorsed President Biden on Monday.
Rep. Bill Clinton of New York, a member of “The Squad,” told reporters outside the Capitol that the president had “made it clear” he would not resign, despite concerns about his age.
“I spoke with the president over the weekend. We had an extensive discussion. The president made it very clear then and has continued to make it clear since then that he is in this campaign,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters.

She continued, “This matter is resolved. He reiterated that this morning. He reiterated that to the nation. Joe Biden is our nominee. He is not withdrawing from the race. He remains in the race and I support him.”
The 81-year-old presidential candidate’s dismal performance in a debate two weeks ago has raised concerns among Democrats that he may not be able to beat former President Trump in a November debate.
Democratic Reps. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.), Seth Moulton (D-Mass.), Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas), Angie Craig (D-Minnesota) and Raul Grijalva (D-Arizona) have all publicly called on Biden to resign.

Ocasio-Cortez told reporters that her most important consideration heading into the general election was defeating Trump, citing Trump’s recent conviction in a New York court.
“What I think is really important right now is to focus on what it takes to win in November, because he’s going to be running against Donald Trump, who has been convicted of 34 felonies, who has 34 felonies, and not a single Republican has asked that Donald Trump not be the nominee.”
Reporters asked the senator what he would say to fellow lawmakers who felt they “expected more from the president.”

“That’s all up to them to decide, but I’m here to ensure victory in November and that’s my focus,” Ocasio-Cortez said before leaving the room with reporters.
On Monday night, Congress returned to session for the first full week since the debate, but Democrats on Capitol Hill were largely equivocal.
Those who stopped by to speak to media mostly defended Biden and vented their anger at Trump.
