Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is considering running for Democratic leadership on the House Oversight Committee as younger members of the party call for the ouster of aging committee leaders.
According to a report in Politico, the New York Democratic Party has announced that Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) will vacate his seat to replace Rep. Jerry Nadler (N.Y.) as the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee. It was reported that he may be considering a successor if he takes up the challenge.
Rep. Gerry Connolly, a Virginia Democrat who ran against Mr. Raskin in the last Congress, declared his candidacy for the supervisory post on Tuesday.

The fight for Mr. Raskin's seat could be one of many in which older House Democrats face challenges from younger members.
“I intend to make a decision soon,” Ocasio-Cortez said, according to Axios.

Representatives Ro Khanna, D-Calif., and Stephen Lynch, D-Mass., are also considered potential candidates to replace Mr. Raskin.
Rep. David Scott (D-Ga.), the top Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee, faces challenges from Rep. Angie Craig (Minnesota) and Rep. Jim Costa (California).
