There are also ways to distinguish between the various warrants that ice agents are likely to carry.

“Because someone just ends up with ice radar, they believe that ice can deport someone, because under the law, people can be deported, or they can stay in the US. It doesn't mean there's no option to fight their lawsuits on the Immigration Defense Project Jenia Brother said it's a Manhattan-based nonprofit. The mission the group has stated is mass incarceration and abroad. It is to fight immigrant targets for exile.

“And that when they meet ice, everyone has the rights during their encounters, even if they don't feel that what they're doing is legal, legal or fair. It's important to know,” Brother said. “Everyone has rights regardless of their immigration status in the US.”

The 54-minute live stream was aimed at immigrants living in the 14th district of Ocasio-Cortez, which covers parts of the Queens and the Bronx.

Although Ocasio-Cortez did not attend the webinar, he uploaded tips to Instagram via posters in both English and Spanish, calling on his followers to share the posters widely and research them.

“Our strategic advantage at this moment is the strength of numbers,” writes Ocasio-Cortez. “It's time to use it. In almost every sense, we outweigh those who want to abuse our power and terrorize people. The truth is, they're going to follow us all. You can't. Give up ahead of time and let them retreat from public life without lifting your fingers.”

She also urged followers to print posters and “tape them up at work or leave them by the door.”

“So, whether you're a citizen or a non-citizen, if ice comes to your workplace or home, you can protect your community and the constitution by exercising your rights,” she said. wrote.

During the webinar, the host told viewers that the Fourth Amendment, which provides protection from unreasonable government searches and seizures, applies to everyone, including immigrants.

“So there are general rules here in private spaces. ICE will need your consent to enter a warrant signed by a judge or that space or to do a search. . While talking about public spaces, there is reasonable doubt to arrest him,” said another speaker who identified Laura and herself.

She explained the difference between a judicial warrant and an administrative warrant, saying that only the judicial warrant gives ice authority to commence a search.

However, she said ICE rarely carries judicial warrants. This means that ICE agents need to agree to enter the home.

“But they often use loose and intimidation to trick people into doing or saying things that can be interpreted as an agreement to enter,” she said.

“And that's really what Luce is about. They don't have a warrant, so they need to get your consent to get your consent They will deceive you and think they are not ice. Ve wants to let you or want to lie like you're lying, they're entitled to enter or they want to threaten or scare you to not want to assert your rights. It will become like this.”

The host also recommends that people document their interactions with ICE by video recordings and taking notes. It says the information could be useful for local immigration rights groups, friends and family.

They also shared their own trends about how Ice has been doing searches over the last few weeks.

“In the last few weeks, ice agents go to the house early in the morning to arrest them,” Brother said. “They stop people on streets and public places that may include public areas at work, which could mean they could walk in front of the restaurant or somewhere in the public.”

She also said that the unmarked ice vehicles stop when people are driving to work or home, and those who may be riding in the order of supervisors are checking in on ice. He said he was in custody.

“It could be anywhere from two or three agents to eight agents,” Blaser says. “They are often very aggressive and encounters really happen quickly.”
