A Democratic Party official who helped boost support for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez before her historic first election told Fox News Digital that the congresswoman has won voters in Queens, a district that has been rife with crime under her leadership. He said he had abandoned her and “betrayed her.” – Aviation prostitution, robbery, and misdemeanor crimes.

Some voters liken the situation along Roosevelt Avenue to those in Third World countries, while others say the sight of immigrant women soliciting sex in front of shops reminds them of Bangkok's red-light district.

The area has attracted national attention for its unsanitary conditions, where illegal vendors overtake the sidewalks and sell unregulated food, used clothing and other counterfeit goods.

Ramon Ramirez Baez, an author and former Democratic Party committee member for the 39th Congressional District, wrote that Ocasio-Cortez pulled off a historic upset in 2018 over longtime Democratic congressman Joe Crowley. He said the quality of life in the region has deteriorated rapidly since he ousted him from office, making him the nation's youngest congressman.

He was an unknown political novice at the time, but unlike Crowley, a career politician, he was a newcomer on the scene who was committed to working hard and being a presence on the ground for the people of Corona, Jackson Heights and Elmhurst. He said it was. At that point, he was a 10-term incumbent and was running to become the next Speaker of the House.

Ramirez-Baez said Ocasio-Cortez asked for help when she had about $39,000 in the bank, compared to Crowley's war chest of about $2 million.

Ramírez Baez, who has deep ties to the region, especially to fellow Dominican immigrants, introduced Ocasio-Cortez to many executives, campaigned with her, and even paid for a venue for the two to debate. He reportedly withdrew the cash. Said. The move proved crucial in swaying local voters, as Crowley did not appear, and Ramírez Baez said it shifted momentum to Ocasio-Cortez.

“I paid for that debate. I have bills for everything I did for Alexandria,” a frustrated Ramirez Baez said, waving documents at the camera. He said all of her campaign expenses were recorded in one of the many books he has written about her.

But Ramirez-Baez has been inactive since Ocasio-Cortez took power, saying she acts no differently than Crowley.

“We never saw that woman, and she never disappeared,” he told FOX News Digital. “she [didn’t] Do anything, nothing, nothing for the community. ”

“She disappeared from my community. I never saw Alexandria in my community. No one ever saw her in her office. It was always closed.” he said of her office in Queens, which was located a block from his apartment.

Rivera said she doesn't appear to have an office in Queens and locals don't know how to contact her office. Ocasio-Cortez's website lists her Queens office as an appointment-only office, which is the same address as New York City Councilwoman Tiffany Caban's office.

“What's wrong? I'm sure it will happen.” [in the] A community that holds events. She didn't do any events. I had never seen Alexandria hold a town hall meeting to hear from the community. she disappeared. ”

“She goes all over the place like a movie star, she goes to Texas, she goes all over the place, but what about the community?”

Rivera said Ocasio-Cortez did hold a town hall in the district in May 2023, but crime, especially prostitution, has exploded since then, and she said she has been working with the community on these issues. He said he was not involved. She told Fox News Digital that gatherings will be very limited, residents must apply to participate, and that her office will deny entry to people she deems hostile to her position. He said even other local Democrats were denied entry.

Ocasio-Cortez spoke at a rally in support of illegal traders a few months later, but quickly left before being questioned, he said.

Ramirez-Baez said she was unaware of Ocasio-Cortez's socialist leanings at the time and regretted as a buyer that she encouraged the community to support her.

If she told me she was a socialist, I would never support her.,” Ramírez Baez declared. He said that part of her socialist agenda is an open borders policy regarding immigration, which is important because many of the illegal peddlers and sex workers on Roosevelt Street are immigrants without jobs or work permits. He said this is contributing to the decline of the region. Resources will also be exhausted.

“She's just defending socialist policies, and they're not for the American people. … She doesn't understand what. [socialism] That's what I mean,” Ramírez Baez said, adding that he understands because he lived in Cuba and the former Soviet Union. “She was a little confused in her head and confused in her ideology.

“Democrats opened the borders, so a lot of people came that nobody knew about. Alexandria was in Texas.” [saying] 'Come on, people in New York have money,' and that's why we have that situation happening in our neighborhoods right now. ”

NYPD state troopers rush to AOC's 'red light' district to crack down on rampant prostitution and crime

He told Fox News Digital that despite being a lifelong Democrat, he voted for President-elect Trump this year and urged his neighbors to do the same.

“America is a country for laws and for working people.”

Commenting on how she ousted Crowley from the throne, Ramirez-Baez said Ocasio-Cortez used social media to connect with young people.

Ramirez-Baez said Ocasio-Cortez hugged her, cried when she won, and told her she would never forget him because he was like a brother to her. He said he responded, “Don't worry, Alexandria. All I need from you is to do what's best for my community.”

FOX News Digital reached out to Ocasio-Cortez's office for comment regarding Ramirez-Baez, but did not receive a response.

Ramirez-Baez has been busy cleaning up Roosevelt Street and founded a group called Improve Roosevelt Street, which advocates for more police officers on the scene. The request was finally fulfilled last month when the mayor and governor sent more than 200 police officers and state troopers to patrol troubled areas.

He said he repeatedly called on Ocasio-Cortez and other local progressives to rally behind him and other activists, but she ignored his pleas.

Ramirez Baez wrote a damning open letter to Ocasio-Cortez last month, but said she has yet to receive a response.

“I remember that you had doubts about the integrity of other politicians and their commitments,” Ramírez Báez wrote in the Oct. 23 letter. “I believed you would advocate for the best interests of our community, but I was wrong.” .

“As I watched your career unfold, I saw that you were more focused on staying in the spotlight and gaining media attention than on the real issues facing your constituents. As you travel around the country and engage in various performances, our communities continue to suffer. The high fashion attire stands in stark contrast to the hardships endured by our hard-working citizens.”

In her letter, Ramirez-Baez said she felt compelled to apologize to the community for supporting her in 2018.

“Roosevelt Street…has become an urban crime zone, with brothels outnumbering outlets.Yet you advocate for legalized prostitution and anti-policing policies. You will find over 70 brothels in and near local schools. You can't even talk about the crimes that are affecting our neighborhoods and protect the vulnerable women who are being exploited by these criminal networks.'' I couldn't even do it. ”

In one block along Roosevelt Avenue, FOX News Digital cameras recorded a line of at least 19 suspected sex workers on the sidewalk in September. There were at least seven more people around the corner, and a woman was seen on the next block asking for sex for $60. Some brothels are known to have reopened even after police raids.

“Your socialism is a travesty. You have never contributed to your own communities. You campaign for others all over the country, while you campaign for your own. They are unaware of the serious damage their mistaken positions have done to our communities and their political parties,” Ramírez-Baez continued.

“Have you reviewed the polling of how many Latinos are defecting from the Democratic Party because of the radical policies you support?” Ramirez-Baez asked. “Look at Roosevelt Street, breathe our air, and see our failures.”
