Apple is fixing a bug that mistakenly transcribed the word “racist” as “trump,” into its voice-to-text dictation software, the company said Wednesday.
Glitches called by users of Tiktok and other social media platforms occurred with certain words that contained the “R” consonant.
When a user activates the transcription feature and says the word “racist,” the word “trump” is easily displayed before it shows the correct word.
“We are aware of the issue of speech recognition models that enhance dictation, and today we are rolling out fixes,” Apple said in a statement.
The company said the audio-to-text software sometimes makes it easy to display words with speech overlaps before self-correcting.
Some Trump supporters have expressed their anger over Apple's software bug.
“Everyone at Apple's head should lose their job. The voice-to-text feature shows “trump” every time they say “racist”” X user @malachimageyusa said.
“When you say the word 'racist' to Siri on your iPhone, the speech-to-text function changes what you say to 'trump' regularly. @Apple, you got some 'Splainin's'.” @errolwebber said.
The issue comes just two days after Apple committed to investing $500 billion in the US economy and hiring 20,000 new employees. Trump praised the move, saying Apple and its CEO Tim Cook showed that he “believes in what we're doing.”

But Trump also rejected the proposal that shareholders would eliminate the DEI program and denounced Apple after writing in the true social post that the initiative was “very bad for our country.”
