They think iOS 18 is no good.
Apple's long-awaited iOS 18 has been met with scathing online reviews since its release on Monday, with many techies slamming the so-called “biggest upgrade ever” for a variety of pitfalls, including making it easier for cheating partners to cheat and a “nauseating” photo feature that doesn't work.
“iOS 18 is a downgrade,” one person concluded. Disillusioned users of X.
When Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the iPhone 16 operating system last week, iPhone enthusiasts marveled at its cutting-edge features, especially the generative AI capabilities called Apple Intelligence that enable things like a smarter Siri and customized emojis.
But many were skeptical of the new feature, which lets users lock and hide apps on their home screen. Although the feature was designed to protect sensitive information, critics worried it could allow unfaithful partners to commit adultery. One X critic declares“The iOS 18 update was definitely engineered by a fraudster.”
“iOS 18 and the new iPhones are going to make these people cheat like crazy… this is crazy. Relationships are over,” fumed another user.
“iOS 18 is going to convert die-hard cheating Android users to iPhone,” a third joked.
The new Photos app was similarly criticized. Labeled by one user “One of the worst designs Apple has ever released.”

Many people weren't happy with the simplified “Single View” with its giant photo grid and “Collections” menu that let you browse through a list of your photos by theme.
“iOS 18's Photos app changes are totally nauseating” Wrote another one. “They've eliminated full-screen video scrubbing, they don't preview photos and videos full screen from the get-go, and everything is on one page so you have to scroll… it just sucks.”
A third person said: “The new Photos app in iOS 18 is hard to use and weird. I hate it. It feels unnecessarily complicated and takes too many steps to do something simple.
Many critics also disliked the much-touted Control Center feature, which let users customize and resize app icons and buttons on the home page.
While ostensibly designed to give users more creative freedom, many iPhone enthusiasts found it far too complicated.
“Whoever designed Control Center in iOS 18 should be fired. It's not user friendly at all.” Declared.
Coincidentally, Apple shares fell about 3% on Monday after multiple analysts argued that delivery times for the new iPhone 16 Pro models indicate weaker-than-expected demand.
Some tech experts believe the lack of uproar was due to a delay in the rollout of key artificial intelligence features.
“Apple Intelligence, its biggest selling point, will not be available at the launch of the iPhone 16,” Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple analyst at TF International Securities, said in a blog post.
