Apple is looking for ways to enhance its product lineup and is reportedly working on a “giant foldable iPad.”
The device is envisioned as “a giant iPad that can be expanded to the size of two iPad Pros side by side.” Bloomberg's Mark Garman reports. He said this in Sunday's Power On newsletter. The current iPad Pro comes in 11-inch and 13-inch models.
The Cupertino, California-based company reportedly aims to eliminate screen “wrinkles” commonly found on foldable devices. Although wrinkles were limited in early versions, they were not completely eliminated.
Foldable iPads could be on store shelves by 2028, according to a report. Although it has been in development for several years, there are still not enough details about how it will work, such as which operating system it will use.
Garman speculated that the device would have “elements” of both Apple's current iPad and Mac computers, and that the company's iPadOS software should be able to run more advanced apps by 2028. added.
Apple is also working on the possibility of a foldable iPhone, but Garman said he doesn't expect it to arrive “before 2026 at the earliest.”

Apple stock was flat in trading on Monday. The company did not respond to requests for comment.
The company still makes most of its revenue from iPhone sales, and recently announced its first AI-enabled version of the device.
However, as smartphone sales have slumped in recent years, Apple has increasingly sought to generate revenue from other devices and software products.
Last year, Apple introduced its $3,500 Vision Pro virtual reality headset to much fanfare, but then cut back on production due to poor sales.
