Applebee’s, IHOP joint restaurants could be coming to US: ‘Compelling opportunity’

Have you ever wanted to eat Applebee’s and IHOP at the same time?

US consumers may have both fixes available at: dual brand restaurant future.

Dine Brand Global, The parent company of these two chains is ‘contemplat’.[ing] “We’re bringing this concept to joint IHOP and Applebee’s restaurants in the U.S.,” CEO John Payton told analysts and investors last week.

The dual-brand IHOP-Applebee’s store concept features “a shared backyard of the two brands and a combined and blended front and back,” he said.

Dine Brands recently launched the brand in Leon, Mexico in January, and Payton said, “Mexico represents an attractive opportunity for further growth as it is one of our largest international markets. “There is,” he said.

There are also seven other companies in the international market.

In a statement to FOX Business, Dine Brands’ CEO said the company “will continue to monitor the success of this test concept and will explore options for further expansion in select regions of the U.S. if needed.” ” he said.

Dine Brands said IHOP and Applebee’s eight existing joint locations are performing well in international markets.

Payton said on an earnings call last week that the company “has observed, on average…that same-sized box revenue for either brand is more than double what it was previously, or what we would expect.” Available for all 4 days. ”

The IHOP brand consists of approximately 1,800 restaurants worldwide at the end of 2023, according to Dine Brands. Applebee’s, on the other hand, had more than 1,600.

Dine Brands announced last week that the former chain’s same-restaurant sales were up 1.6% in the fourth quarter from a year ago, while the latter’s sales were down 0.5%.

The company, which Payton has been at the helm for about three years, also operates Fuzzy’s Taco Shop.
