Apple’s new MacBook Air models rolling out this week

Apple plans to officially release updated MacBook Air models later this week.

The technology giant announced that Apple Store locations and authorized resellers will sell the latest versions of its 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air laptops equipped with the M3 chip starting Friday.

According to Apple, the starting price for the 13-inch M3-equipped MacBook Air will be $1,099. Starting price for the 15-inch is set at $1,299.

“MacBook Air is our most popular and beloved Mac, with more and more customers choosing it over any other laptop,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. Told. “And today, it’s even better with the M3 chip and new features.”

Apple said the M3 chip makes the MacBook Air “up to 60% faster than models with the M1 chip and up to 13x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air.” It has a Liquid Retina display.

It also touted the new MacBook Air as “the world’s best AI-enabled consumer laptop.” That referred to his Neural Engine and CPU and GPU accelerators on the M3 chip.

Some new features include “support for up to two external displays and Wi-Fi up to 2x faster than the previous generation,” according to the company.

These two new MacBook Airs arrive just a few months after Apple announced new iMacs and MacBook Pros powered by the M3 chip. These also join a growing list of recent products launched by the company, including the iPhone 15, Apple Watch Series 9, and Vision Pro headset.

In the first quarter of Apple’s fiscal year, the Mac division and its $7.78 billion in net sales accounted for about 6.5% of the tech giant’s overall net sales. iPhone net sales for the quarter were $69.7 billion, accounting for the largest portion.
