Oklahoma Arby’s Manager Charged with Felony Poisoning
A manager from an Arby’s in Oklahoma is facing serious legal trouble after being accused of spitting in a customer’s food. This has led to a felony poisoning charge. The situation escalated when the customer, Jennika Church, claimed the incident resulted in a herpes infection.
Amanda Hendricks, the former manager at the Broken Bow Arby’s, is charged with felony poisoning with intent to injure, following a police investigation into the event that took place in March, as reported by local news sources.
“I used to love Arby’s, but my feelings have changed,” Jennika Church stated. She mentioned to KJRH that she noticed her order was taking longer than expected when she visited the restaurant after a late shift as a bartender.
According to a police affidavit, surveillance footage shows Hendricks spitting on a sandwich meant for Church. The video apparently reveals that Hendricks was having an active herpes outbreak during the incident, and soon after eating the food, Church tested positive for HSV-1.
Speaking to KJRH, Church noted that she had only a brief acquaintance with Hendricks but expressed concerns about how the situation unfolded. After leaving, she consumed a portion of the sandwich while in her car and took the rest home to share with her husband and a relative.
Later, Church developed lesions on her lips, which led to the HSV-1 diagnosis linked to the contaminated food.
Police began looking into the matter after being tipped off by another employee about Hendricks’ action. Following the review of the surveillance video, they confirmed that Hendricks was seen spitting on the sandwich ingredients as saliva dripped onto the food.
Currently, Hendricks is being held at the McCurtain County Jail. Her legal issues are compounded by the lawsuit from Church, which alleges that Hendricks worked while showing visible herpes symptoms, a situation that the restaurant management also failed to address appropriately.
As of now, Arby’s has not provided a comment on this troubling incident.
