Texas Longhorns Add Key Transfer in Cam Coleman
The Texas Longhorns have made a significant addition by acquiring Cam Coleman, a former wide receiver from Auburn, through the 2026 transfer portal.
Next season, Coleman will team up with quarterback Arch Manning, a move that promises to enhance Texas’s offense, which notably struggled in the 2025 season.
At 6 feet 3 inches tall, Coleman is transitioning from Auburn, where he spent two seasons. His decision to join Texas came after weighing options that included Alabama, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M.
The Longhorns ended their 2025 season with a record of 10-3, highlighted by a 41-27 triumph over the University of Michigan in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. They finished ranked 14th nationally after participating in the College Football Playoff in both 2023 and 2024, but they didn’t reach that level this past season.
During Manning’s 2025 season, he passed for 3,163 yards with 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Despite the criticism regarding his ability to live up to the high expectations, he managed to stabilize as the season progressed. Key support in the receiving department came from Ryan Wingo, who recorded 54 receptions, racking up 834 yards and seven touchdowns.
Unfortunately, no other Texas receiver matched Wingo’s production, with the next closest notching fewer than 40 catches and 550 yards. Additionally, Manning’s former roommate, Parker Livingston, transferred to Oklahoma after catching 29 passes for 516 yards and six touchdowns last season.
Coleman is expected to quickly fill that void within the receiving group.
During his time at Auburn, Coleman made a name for himself as one of the SEC’s standout pass-catchers. As a sophomore in 2025, he started all 12 games and finished with 56 catches for 708 yards and five touchdowns. He even recorded a career-high 143 yards and 10 receptions in a single game against Vanderbilt.
In his freshman year, he was named to the SEC All-Freshman team, having caught 37 passes for 598 yards and eight touchdowns. Before college, Coleman was a hot commodity in recruiting, earning five-star status and being ranked as the No. 2 receiver in ESPN’s 2024 class. In his senior year of high school, he amassed 61 receptions for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns, leading his team to a state championship and earning MVP honors in the championship game.
