Arch Manning catches a touchdown in significant Texas victory

Arch Manning’s Unique Touchdown

On Saturday, Arch Manning did something that both his renowned uncles, Peyton and Eli, never managed during their impressive careers in the NFL and NCAA.

In the first quarter of Texas’ commanding 52-37 victory against Arkansas, the Longhorns pulled off their version of the famed “Philly Special” trick play, with Manning catching a pass from wide receiver Parker Livingston in the end zone.

This receiving touchdown is especially noteworthy—neither Peyton nor Eli Manning ever scored one. It’s a unique achievement for Arch, who, despite having participated in four seasons of college football and 502 NFL games, stands out in this family lineage.

On Saturday, Manning achieved a remarkable overall performance, completing 18 of 30 passes for 389 yards and adding six total points to his tally. This might have been, perhaps, his best game yet in college.

Livingston was instrumental too, leading all receivers with 104 yards on just two receptions.

The win improves Texas’ record to 8-3, keeping their hopes alive for the College Football Playoff. Although, let’s be honest—they’ll need a perfect finish to grab a spot.

This victory followed days after head coach Steve Sarkisian firmly denied swirling rumors about his potential departure from the Longhorns, labeling such speculation as “completely false and untrue.”

He stated emphatically during a recent SEC coaches call, “I haven’t discussed leaving with my agent or anyone else, whether it’s a college or NFL team. I came here to win championships.” He mentioned his family ties to the University of Texas, pointing out that he’s got two kids enrolled there and more family plans for the future.

In his closing remarks, Sarkisian highlighted the tangible success the Longhorns football program has achieved since he took the reins in 2021.

“We’ve built a strong football program over these five years,” he said. “We’ve made it to the College Football Playoff twice and won the Big 12 championship. Plus, we’ve had 23 players drafted in the last two years—more than any other school. And our team GPA is the best it’s ever been.”

He then urged the media to cease spreading unsubstantiated claims, expressing frustration over the retweeting of rumors that lack credibility.
