Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning, who will serve as Quinn Ewers’ backup in the 2024 season, proved he is ready to play immediately in Saturday’s spring game.
Manning put on a show in the spring game. Manning was the star of Team White vs. Team Orange, completing 19 of 25 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns.

Manning completed two 75-yard touchdown passes in the game. He initially came out on the first pitch of the contest.
He found DeAndre Moore for a long touchdown in the first quarter. Manning completed 11 of 13 for 190 yards and two touchdowns in the first half.
In the fourth quarter, Manning set up Isaiah Bond for a 75-yard score, giving Team White a 34-28 lead late in the game.
“We just wanted Arch to be able to go play football. He hasn’t played properly all year,” Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said after the game. Via ESPN. “When he looks up and gets into the pocket, he can get the ball down the field the way we want to play. It was good to see that and some of the players around him are able to get the ball down the field the way we want to play. It was good to see them play together ‘the way they did it.
“We’re very fortunate to have a third-year starter backing us up at the quarterback position.”

Sarkisian praised Manning’s overall perseverance as he moved from QB3 to QB2 while Ewers stayed in college and passed on the NFL Draft after the 2023 season.
Trey Owens could have been next to Manning on the depth chart, but he went 14-of-21 for 228 yards and three touchdowns in the game.

Texas opens the season on August 31st against Colorado State. They have a game in Ann Arbor in Week 2 against the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines.
